So, it rains here almost every other day, and rainy season is just starting. There are times when all of sudden it just starts pouring and then it will stop about 5 minutes later. This has been happening in the late afternoon hours. I'm not sure if that's normal, but I guess I'll find out. :) As you can imagine, riding a bike every day might become a bit difficult when the rain starts. I've been riding my bike to work all week, waiting for the day I get stuck in the rain. I bought a poncho on the first or second day just so that I'm prepared when it does rain. I've been keeping it in my backpack to pull out for emergencies.
On my way home from the school yesterday, the traffic was really bad, so I took a few detours. I saw the rain coming, so I was trying to hurry home. About 10 blocks from my house, it started sprinkling. I thought I could make it home, so I kept on riding. Then it started raining harder, and all of a sudden it was pouring. I quickly stopped under a tree, which doesn't provide complete coverage from the rain especially when it's pouring. I guy stopped in front of me on his moto (mo-ped), and took out his poncho and put it on. So, I decided to put mine on. First of all, my poncho was still in the package, and I had a hard time getting it open. By this time, I'm getting drenched and so is my backpack which has my computer in it. I quickly ripped the poncho out of the package, and tried to put it on. I tore it in couple of places in my frenzy to get it on. After trying for a minute, I just decided to put the poncho over my bag to protect it. As I'm getting drenched, I notice I'm standing right in front of a mud puddle which is splashing mud all over my shoes, lol. Across the street, I noticed 3 or 4 guys sitting under a concrete covering watching me. What a joke! I guess I could have joined them and stayed dry, but I was too stubborn. I'm sure I gave them a great show. :) It had almost stopped raining, but I was determined to get this poncho to work, so I fought with it until I got it on. I ripped it a few more times, and finally got it on. I pulled out from under the tree to head home and the rain had stopped. The sun had come out, lol. I might I need more practice with my poncho. :)
