"Purity is too deep down for me to get to naturally. But when the Holy Spirit comes in, He brings into the center of my personal life the very Spirit that was manifested in the life of Christ, the Holy Spirit, which is unsullied purity." - Oswald Chambers.
I find myself at times striving for holiness on my own, as if I am "good" in my soul. Haha, that is where I have been fooled. The very root of my being is filthy, and only produces sin. Daily, I find my flesh (sinful nature) rising up in me and grating against my soul. I'm so thankful that the Holy Spirit lives in me and gives me a righteousness that is not my own. If I daily give my up my flesh and live by the Spirit, then I can love others well and live a life pleasing to God. I've found this too be a daily battle :), but one well worth fighting for.
