First, on my way to school one morning I ran into a moto. Since there is not stop signs and stop lights at every intersection people just pull out without stopping or looking. Many times, people will drive down the wrong side of the road. I always have to pay attention to be sure no one is turning or coming towards me. Well, this particular morning, a moto pulled out in front of me. We both tried to stop, but I bumped into his front tire. We both kind of looked at each other, somewhat annoyed. The only thing going through my head was, "It was his fault, because he pulled out in front of me. Why didn't he look both ways?" My pride wanted to say it was his fault, which by American standards it was, but does that make it right here? Things are different here, so it was really no ones fault. My pride tells me that I'm right, but the Lord reminds me that I'm not. Too often, I think I have to be right. PRIDE is nasty! That same morning I stopped to get an iced coffee, and I thought they gave me the wrong amount of change, so I started to argue about 5 cents. Lol, seriously? I said to the Lord, "Wow, my pride is rockin' today!" Our lives are living, breathing testimonies of Jesus. Sometimes, my pride can cause that testimony to look nasty. Lord, keep me humble in all ways!
Thank you Lord, that no one was injured in the little fender bender.
Second, on my way to school another morning, a man was walking down the middle of the road between the flow of traffic. As I passed him, he through his finished cigarette at me. He missed, but I was kind of in shock for a minute, and then I just started laughing.
Thank you Lord that the lit cigarette didn't hit me.
Third, on my way home from school, a puppy started running along side my bicycle. It started barking and running faster. It was super cute, and I thought it was just playing. All of sudden it darted in front of my bike. I slammed on my breaks missing the puppy, but unfortunately I was on gravel when I hit the breaks. My front tire skidded and threw me off the bike. I landed in a pile of dirt and rolled. There were many people around, and no one came over to see if I was ok. Lol, I heard some people laughing to my left and saw quite a few just staring to my right. I gathered myself and jumped back on my bike. I came away with only a scratched elbow, and bruised pride, lol. I stopped by a little shop, where I often stop for an iced coffee. Ok, I stop there daily, lol. A Cambodian family owns the shop, and it is actually just sits in front of their house. I have enjoyed talking to them every time I stop. As I ordered my iced coffee, I grabbed a napkin to clean my elbow a little. The sweet lady making my iced coffee saw that I was bleeding, and she became very concerned. All of sudden, she sent her sister in the house. A few moments later, the sister came out with some sort of medicine to put on my elbow. I stuck my finger in the little jar and put the medicine on my elbow. I only used a little, because I have no idea what this medicine is, so the girl said, "a lot". So, I put some more on, and again she said, "a lot". I laughed inside, and thought "oh well", and put "a lot" of the medicine on my elbow. Later, I found out it was tiger balm, which is apparently the cure for all scratches here. Anyway, the family was very kind to me. This family owns the cows that rome in the neighborhood, lol. I pray for opportunities to get to know them more. They are a buddhist family, because they have shrine in front of their house. Please pray for opportunities to show them the love of Jesus.
Thank you Lord that the bicycle wreck was only minor, and I came away with only a scratch.
Thank you Lord for this family I have had the opportunity to interact with even more because of the bike wreck.
