This morning we went with Srey Mom to a Cambodian church. I continue to be in awe of how God is and has been working in her life. Remember she works at a restaurant, Kiwi, across the street from our apartment which is where we first met her. She told us that she just started working there 7 months ago. We arrived 7 months ago! I don't believe that happened by chance. Srey Mom just moved to a new apartment and it is one block away from our apartment, that isn't by chance either. She woke up late this morning, so I called her when she didn't come to meet us. She had just woke up, but said she was coming . She told me later that if I hadn't called her, she would have just stayed at home because she thought she was already late. She went on to say how she cant believe how people continue to give her opportunities to go to church and hear about Jesus. I told her that is the power of God! She is so excited to learn more about Jesus. We are trying to get her connected with a young group of Cambodian believers who have a weekly Bible study. I also learned today that Srey Mom never finished high school. She comes from a family of 11, with 9 kids. When she was 14 years old she moved to the city with her older brother to work at a clothes factory where she made a $50 a month. She did this for 6 years, 6 days a week to earn money for her family. Since she doesnt have a high school diploma, it is very difficult for her to get a good job. Right now, Srey Mom is working and going to school to learn better English. Good English usually equals a better job here. She is now 25 years old and very tuff! God has his hand all over this girl, and is so exciting to watch! God has gifted her as a leader, so I believe He will use her in great ways among her family and her people. Please pray that we can help her get connected with a group of believers who are her age where she can study the Bible. Please pray that God will continue to work in her and build a firm foundation of truth in her heart.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11
