Me

Take a break from all the plans that you have made and sit alone at home and wait for God to whisper. Beg Him please to open up His mouth and speak and pray for real upon your knees until they blister... Jimmy Needham

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' SOCCER...

THE TEAM

OUR NUMBERS ARE IN CAMBODIAN, NOT ENGLISH (OOPS)...  THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE PRINTED IN ENGLISH, BUT THERE WAS A MISTAKE AT THE T-SHIRT SHOP.  THE OTHER TEAMS WEREN'T VERY HAPPY, LOL, BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T CALL OUT OUR NUMBERS VERY EASILY.

AFTER A VICTORY...
Last weekend was the climax of our high soccer season here at Logos.  Soccer is a "big deal" here and I love it! :)  I had the opportunity to coach the High School Girls soccer team.  As a coach, it's tuff to please everyone, as I'm learning.  Girls here don't seem to have the same mentality as competitive teams in America.  They tend to think that if you are on the team you should get to play as much as everyone else.  Well, that's just not the case if you understand what it means to be a part of a competitive team.  For these girls, it is hard to understand that sometimes being a part of team means you aren't in the spotlight all the time, but rather on the sideline supporting your team. However, being second string isn't any less important.  There needs to be support players as well as those who shine.  All parts are needed for a team to be successful.  This is an extremely tuff lesson to learn in sports and in life.

We got second place at the final tournament. There are 4 teams in our league, so 2nd place isn't too bad. I learned a lot from this season. Players want a coach who they can respect, someone who genuinely cares for each player, and someone who knows the game.  They will follow a good leader, someone who is honest and straight forward with them.  This is the kind of coach I would play my heart out for, and I strive to be this kind of coach someday. Teaching and coaching at a Christian school allows me the opportunity to encourage players to play for God's glory and not our own. In victory and defeat, God can be glorified!  I pray that these young ladies learned how to play hard and play for something more than just themselves.
