Last Friday, we had a school wide jog-a-thon. All the students spent a couple months raising money for the jog-a-thon. All the money raised goes towards needs of the school. This year's fund will go towards a generator for the school. The power goes out at our school often. For example, last week, the power was out all day 2 out of 5 days, and the other 3 days it was off about half the day. For P.E., this isn't a problem, lol, but for computer classes and students that have to sit inside it can cause a lot of unproductive days. It gets quite hot here, and AC is a luxury our school has when we have power. :) Any thing done with computers or technology is out the window, and a back up plan comes into play. However, there are only so many back up plans, lol. Anyway, all this to say, that we raised enough money to purchase a generator for the school, which should be installed in the spring. Last year, the jog-a-thon money went towards the awesome turf field we have now, which I've shown you pictures of already. All students in grade 6 through grade 12 ran 3 kilometers, grades 3-5 ran around the soccer field, and grades K-2 ran inside the gym. I was in charge of the K-2 students. We plugged some Toby Mac into some speakers, which always makes running more fun, right? They were so cute and excited to run.
The best part was the t-shirts. The slogan on the back of the shirt says, "SWEAT IS FAT CRYING". How awesome is that!!!!
On the sleeve, there is a little pink box with, "WILL RUN FOR .........." right above it. The students could write whatever they wanted to in the pink box. Michael is one of my 7th grade PE students and he put "Ms. Bawden" in his box. Adorable! It made my heart melt. I love these students. Please continue to pray for their hearts as they hear about the love of Jesus and grow in the Lord.
