So, the middle school girls basketball season has come to an end. We ended our season with a tournament last Saturday. The girls came out ready play! We won out first 2 games and advanced to the finals. The team we played in the finals was bigger, taller, more practiced, and better coached. Let's just say we were the underdog, but the girls showed no fear. We played the other team close and it came down to 13 seconds left and we were down by 2 points. Our point guard dribbled the length of the court, put up a shot, and drew a foul. She shot 2 free throw shots, missed the first and made the second. Now there are 3 seconds left on the clock and we are down by one. Somehow through all the noise the same little point guard heard my shouting to press and steal the inbounds pass. She stole the ball and had a wide open lay up at the buzzer.... Awww!!, but it rattled in and out. We lost by one, but what a game! The girls played great and had fun. It was a good season, and I pray that the girls learned that even playing basketball is about glorifying the Lord in both victory and defeat.
