The middle school girls are very talented. Actually the 6th graders brought a lot of talent to the team this year. The beginning of the season is always a little messy for the girls. Soccer is a favorite sport at our school, and the guys live and breathe soccer. However, the girls don't have the same driving passion. They only play when it comes to practice and games. So, after practicing for awhile they started to learn how to play together. I'm also continually learning how to coach soccer well. We tied a few games during the season, and lost one game to our biggest rival. By the tournament, we were the team to beat. And.... No one could beat us. We took 1st place in the final tournament. The girls were so excited, and so was I. :). I pray that they caught a glimpse of what it means to work hard and play as a team. I continually try to remind them that more important than winning is how we play the game. Winning is fun, but only in humility. Everything is for God's glory, even playing soccer. I'm not sure my middle school girls quite grasp that yet, but I pray that this idea, "all for Jesus", will stick with them through the years.
